Placement site information

Cohuna

Cohuna is situated on the banks of the Gunbower Creek, home to the Australian barefoot ski championships and offers a range of nature and recreational based activities for the whole family. It is 300 km North West of Melbourne, 60 km West of Echuca and 30 km East of Kerang. Cohuna is a pleasant service town surrounded by the waters of the Murray River.
North of Cohuna (8 km) is Gunbower Island, a section of land between the Murray River and its anabranch, Gunbower Creek. It is 56 km long, and is reputedly the world's largest inland island, extending from Koondrook to Torrumbarry Weir. The island is characterized by swamps, river red gums and box forest.
