Supervision at placements
All placements have a preceptor who is responsible for the planning and timetabling of activities and for assessment. Most preceptors are Directors of Nursing (D.O.N.s), Directors of Medical Services, managers or General Practitioners who have attended workshops organised by the School of Rural Health.
The first morning is an opportunity to establish a work-plan with the supervisor /preceptor and
to discuss learning needs. The supervisor can make suggestions about gathering information for
assignments and presentations. This discussion can demonstrate the important concerns of the
Small Town/Clinical Placement.
